UTME GLITCHES: SOUTH EAST REPS CAUCUS DEMANDS OLOYEDE'S RESIGNATION.
The South-East Caucus of the House of Representatives has demanded the resignation of JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede over technical glitches that affected nearly 380,000 candidates during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The leader of the caucus, Igariwey Enwo, in a statement issued on Monday, criticized JAMB's response, citing poor communication, scheduling conflicts with WAEC exams, and short notice for the re-sitting.
The lawmakers called for the immediate cancellation of the 2025 UTME and a new exam date, preferably after WAEC and NECO exams.
They also demanded the suspension of key officials responsible for JAMB's digital operations and logistics.
Expressing concern over the impact on students, particularly those in the South-East, the lawmakers emphasized that accountability requires more than apologies, stressing that Oloyede's resignation would allow for a thorough review of the failure and restore public confidence in JAMB.
