BILL FOR CLIMATE CHANGE UNIVERSITY PASSES FIRST READING IN TARABA STATE.
The Taraba State House of Assembly has approved the first reading of a bill to establish the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture and Climate Change Action.
The proposed university aims to harness the region's agricultural potential, promote sustainable development, as well as to offer educational and economic opportunities for local residents.
The bill, which is being sponsored by three lawmakers from Sardauna local government council, has been met with enthusiasm, particularly in the council where community leaders and residents have long advocated for increased educational infrastructure.
If the bill becomes law, the university is expected to drive agricultural advancement, attract investment, and stimulate job creation.
The lawmakers said the proposed institution, which is strategically located due to its favorable climate, fertile land, and capacity to support agricultural innovation, is expected to enhance the state's efforts to address climate challenges while improving food security.
