FG INTRODUCES DEGREE PROGRAMME IN AI.

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has introduced specialized Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber-security, Software Engineering, and Networking. 

This move aims to align Nigeria's education system with global technological trends and equip young Nigerians with digital skills for the modern economy.

The Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Professor Idris Bugaje, disclosed that the Board has also implemented a digital accreditation platform powered by AI to monitor compliance with academic standards, identify faculty duplications, and curb malpractices, with a requirement for institutions to upload detailed information about facilities, equipment, and faculty onto a centralized digital platform, reducing the need for physical accreditations and curbing manipulation.

Bugaje explained that the digital shift in accreditation is designed to make Nigerian polytechnics more relevant in a rapidly changing world and help the country harness technology to boost its GDP.

The NBTE emphasized that embedding technology in education and economic development is crucial for unlocking growth and prosperity in the digital age.
