The Zamfara State Government has denied reports that civil servants had not been paid salaries for four months.
The state’s Head of Civil Service, Yakubu Sani Haidara,in a statement on Tuesday, described the claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to discredit the government.
Haidara assured that Governor Dauda Lawal's administration prioritizes workers' welfare, noting that the government had cleared three months' salary arrears and also payed N14 billion in pension and gratuity arrears.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Education, Wadato Madawaki, clarified that salaries have been paid promptly since the administration took office, although some were withheld due to credible findings of persistent absence from duty.
For his part, the Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Dantawasa also dismissed the claims as false and misleading, stating that the government is committed to transparency and accountability.
