FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has called for urgent national intervention to address worsening security and healthcare challenges in Abuja.
Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during the 2025 budget defense at the Senate, emphasizing the city's unique status as the seat of power and diplomatic hub which requires a strategic security arrangement that cannot be handled by the FCT administration alone.
Lamenting the non-functional surveillance infrastructure in Abuja, citing political roadblocks and administrative bottlenecks, the Minister proposed a joint summit to bring together stakeholders from security, health, and administrative sectors to address the challenges.
He also announced the procurement of advanced MRI and CT scanners for FCT hospitals, aimed at improving public health services, while stressing the need for coordinated efforts to tackle the complex issues facing the FCT.
