WE'RE TAKING PROACTIVE MEASURES TO REDUCE IMPACT OF FLOOD IN JIGAWA - NAMADI.
Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, says his administration is taking proactive measures to reduce the impact of flooding in the state.
Governor Namadi made this known on Monday in Dutse while addressing newsmen on the level of preparedness by the state for the 2025 rainy season.
Despite predictions that 21 local government areas, including Guri, are at high or moderate risk of flooding in 2025, he assured that the government is well-prepared.
Highlighting several initiatives, including the construction of embankments in flood-prone areas and the dredging of rivers to allow for free water flow during the rainy season, Governor Namadi revealed that 150 out of 300 kilometers of the Hadejia River have been dredged.
He emphasized his administration's commitment to protecting lives, property, farmlands, and infrastructure from flooding and other disasters in the state, ensuring a proactive approach to mitigate the effects of the predicted floods.
