UNGA CONGRATULATES POPE LEO XIV

The President of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Yang, has felicitated with Pope Leo XIV.

The UNGA president, in a congratulatory message, said he looked forward to a strengthened partnership between the Holy See and the UN General Assembly. 

Yang also expressed optimism that the new Pope will be a beacon of solidarity in a world facing unprecedented challenges, offering guidance, unity, and a moral voice on global issues. 

Recall that in his first public address on Thursday after he was elected, Pope Leo XIV greeted thousands in St. Peter's Square with a message of peace, signaling a papacy aimed at unity and reform.
