TRIBUNAL UPHOLDS AIYEDATIWA'S VICTORY, DESCRIBES PETITIONS SPECULATIVE.

The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the November 16, 2023 election. 

The tribunal, in a unanimous judgment, dismissed all petitions filed against him, stating that the petitioners failed to prove allegations of over-voting and non-compliance with the Electoral Act beyond reasonable doubt.

The tribunal ruled that some of the allegations, such as the deputy governor's academic qualifications, were pre-election matters that had already been decided by the apex court.

The petitioners, including Action Alliance (AA), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and African Democratic Congress (ADC), had sought to nullify the election on grounds of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, but the tribunal ruled that the petitioners lacked evidence to support their claims and described the petitions as speculative.
