President Bola Tinubu has inducted two new Agusta 109 Trekker helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fleet, boosting the country's air power capabilities.
The president, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the induction, emphasized the importance of a strong military in securing Nigeria and preserving democracy.
He assured the personnel of his continued support for defense modernization, noting that the acquisition is part of his administration's commitment to investing in cutting-edge defense technologies, given the NAF's operational excellence in advancing national security objectives.
In his remarks, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, described the induction as a significant milestone in the NAF's modernization drive, enhancing operational effectiveness across various theaters.
Abubakar also expressed optimism that the Agusta 109 Trekker helicopters will support joint operations, air reconnaissance, close air support, and humanitarian missions, strengthening the NAF's multi-domain operational capability.
