President Bola Tinubu has congratulated two British-Nigerians, Opeyemi Bright and Jason Jackson, on their election as Mayors in the UK.
Bright was recently elected as the Civic Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, with Jackson as the Mayor of Islington, thereby making history as the first Nigerian-born Mayor of the borough since its establishment in 1900.
President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, commended the duo for promoting values of honesty, integrity, hard work, and commitment to the well-being of others, expressing confidence in their abilities and looked forward to the positive impact they would make in their respective boroughs.
The President noted that their stories would inspire young people in Nigeria and the diaspora to pursue excellence and serve their communities with distinction. He urged them to continue giving their best in their new roles.
