TCN SEEKS SUPPORT TO CURB RISING VANDALISM OF POWER TRANSMISSION TOWERS.

1 min read

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has called on communities hosting transmission infrastructure to support the fight against power tower sabotage.

TCN's General Manager for Port Harcourt Region, Akpa Anyaegbunam, made the call during a sensitization program for youths in Ahoada East and Ahoada West areas of Rivers State, emphasizing that vandalism of power infrastructure disrupts economic and domestic activities.

Citing a recent incident that led to a blackout in Bayelsa State, Anyaegbunam urged youths to see power infrastructure as a shared asset, therefore, protecting them must be a collective responsibility.

In response, the youths, who pledged to partner with the government to prevent further attacks on power installations, suggested forming surveillance teams within host communities to safeguard transmission facilities.

The sensitization program, which covered 19 communities, aims to raise awareness and foster local participation in protecting national assets.
