TCN ANNOUNCES POWER SHUTDOWN IN NORTH-EAST.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage in several North-East states due to ongoing construction work at the Bauchi 330kV substation.
A letter signed by TCN’s Regional Operations Manager, Bauchi Region, Engineer J.O. Joseph, explained that the outage, which will last from June 10 to June 14, is necessary for the erection of transmission towers and the crossing of an existing transmission line.
Joseph revealed that the outage will affect several areas, including Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo, which will be completely without electricity supply during the work, although he said that Gombe and Biu substations will be partially powered through the Dadin Kowa Hydropower Plant, and Baga Road substation will receive supply from MEPP.
The disruption is part of a series of outages that have affected the northern region, as a major blackout occurred in October 2024, leaving 17 states in darkness after a collapse involving the 330kV Ugwaji–Apir double circuit lines.
