
SENATE PASSES 2 ADDITIONAL TAX REFORM BILLS.
The Nigerian Senate has passed the remaining two tax reform bills, bringing the total to four.
The bills that were passed on Thursday are the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill 2025 and the Nigeria Tax Bill 2025, following the passage of the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill and the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill on Wednesday.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, explained that the Nigeria Tax Bill 2025 consolidates existing taxation legal frameworks, while the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill provides for the creation of the Tax Appeal Tribunal and the Office of the Tax Ombudsman.
Commending the lawmakers for their diligence, describing the passage as "historic" and "in the interest of Nigerians", .
These reforms are seeking to harmonize and coordinate tax administration in Nigeria., and the bills will now be harmonized with the House of Representatives' version before being forwarded to the President for assent.
