RAINY SEASON: NOA SENSITIZES FLOOD PRONE COMMUNITIES IN JIGAWA
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched a campaign to mitigate potential flood disasters in Jigawa State.
The agency's director, Ahmad Tijjani, who led a team to Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to strengthen partnership and achieve better results in flood prevention, revealed that the NOA has sensitized five flood-prone communities across five local government areas in the state, in addition to media engagements and radio discussions.
The NOA highlighted the importance of planning and coordination in risk mitigation and emergency response, saying that the campaign is coming after the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) predicted that 21 local government areas in Jigawa State would experience flooding between July and September, with Guri Local Government Area being at high risk.
