President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the people of Plateau State and Governor Caleb Muftwang, over the death of the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, who died on Sunday at the age of 74.
Tyoden, who served as Deputy Governor from 2015 to 2023 alongside former Governor Simon Lalong, was also a professor of Political Science and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos.
Eulogizing the deceased for his commitment to Plateau State's development, acknowledging his contributions to academia and public service, the president prayed for his peaceful repose and comfort for his family, particularly his wife and children.
Meanwhile, Governor Muftwang has paid a condolence visit to Tyoden's family, describing him as an icon of service, honor, and enduring legacy.
The governor recalled Tyoden's remarkable contributions to academia and governance, noting that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
