The newly elected Catholic Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, has celebrated his first Mass in a private gathering of cardinals at the Sistine Chapel.
Delivering his inaugural homily, the US-born pontiff, who became the 267th pope on Thursday, expressed his hope to bring light to the world's "dark nights".
The pope emphasized the Church's mission to spread faith in areas where it is fading, particularly where technology, money, and power dominate.
Pope Leo XIV has also been scheduled to appear on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica for the traditional Regina Coeli prayer on Sunday.
