POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR SUSPECTED ABUSER OF MAID IN ABUJA.
The FCT Police Commissioner, Adewale Ajao, has ordered the arrest of a woman accused of abusing and starving a 14-year-old girl who was working as a maid in Abuja.
A video had gone viral showing the girl, Bashariya, narrating her ordeal, which included being deprived of food, beaten, and burned, with visible lashes and burn scars on her body.
The police action follows the widespread circulation of the video, which exposed the horrific treatment of the young girl from Zamfara State, who was brought to Abuja as a domestic worker.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that CP Ajao has directed all Divisional Police Officers to locate and arrest the woman involved.
The CP strongly condemned child abuse and warned that anyone unable to properly care for a child should not take on such responsibility.
