The Anambra State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt in Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area.

A statement on Sunday by the command spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police operatives responded swiftly to a distress call on Saturday at about 8:45pm and successfully rescued three victims, including a husband and wife.

Ikenga disclosed that the police recovered one of the victims' vehicles at the scene, adding that a joint security force, comprising the Military, NSCDC, and local vigilantes, is supporting the ongoing operation to arrest the suspects, who were armed with sophisticated weapons.

The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, and to cooperate with security agencies to ensure continued peace and safety in the state.

He added that the joint security team is also searching for the vehicle that was allegedly used by the fleeing suspects.
