The Jigawa State Police Command has successfully clamped down on a suspected gang of kidnappers operating in Garki and Sule Tankarkar areas.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdullahi, made this known at a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Dutse on Wednesday.
CP Abdullahi, said the operation, led by the Gumel Area Commander, was made possible through strategic intelligence gathering and collaboration with local vigilantes, hunters, and Yanbulala.
The CP noted that during the operation, five suspected kidnappers were killed, while five others, including the kingpin, Yahya Mohammed, adding that the police also recovered several exhibits, including two AK-47 rifles, one multipurpose machine gun, 14 live ammunition, two motorcycles, and three mobile handsets.
He further revealed that an 80-year-old kidnapped victim, Hajiya Hajara, was rescued unhurt and reunited with her family, noting that a medical examination confirmed that the victim is in stable condition, while the police are currently investigating the suspects, who are assisting with the inquiry.
