The Lagos State Police Command has detained a suspect in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old woman in Orile Iganmu.
The command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post on X on Sunday, said the suspect, who allegedly broke into the victim's compound to rob her, was arrested by detectives of the Homicide Section of the command.
Hundeyin noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect forcibly gained access to the victim’s premises and fled with her vehicle, adding that victim was found unconscious and taken to a medical facility where she later died.
According to him, the police deployed intelligence and technical resources to track down the suspect, who was eventually arrested in Ankpa, Kogi State, while the stolen vehicle, which was recovered in good condition, was secured as evidence.
He said the suspect, who is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, will be prosecuted upon conclusion of the investigation, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Olohunde Moshood, has assured the public of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.
