The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four individuals involved in the production of counterfeit herbicides in Inkil.
The command spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the operation, which was conducted on May 3 based on credible intelligence, led to the seizure of counterfeit materials and equipment.
Wakil said the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of the counterfeit production and dismantle the network responsible.
He noted that the police recovered 26 cartons labeled "Force Up", empty cartons, drums filled with suspicious liquid, empty containers, sealing tapes, scissors, glue, and welding tools, adding that the suspects implicated a 36-year-old resident as the ringleader, who was subsequently tracked and apprehended.
The spokesman reassured the public of the command’s commitment to eradicating criminal enterprises that threaten public safety and consumer trust, stating that the suspects will face charges once investigations are complete.
