OYO STATE GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES JOINT TASK FORCE ON ILLEGAL MINING.

The Oyo State Government has inaugurated a joint task force to combat illegal mining activities in the state, as part of efforts to enforce Executive Order 001/2023, aimed at promoting sustainable mining practices and environmental stewardship.

The Director-General of Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Abiodun Oni, who warned that anyone found engaging in illegal mining would be held accountable and prosecuted, urged residents to report suspicious activities.

Oni stated that the task force is expected to conduct a comprehensive crackdown on unauthorized mining activities and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks. 

He stated that the initiative, which is a strategic response to the growing threat of illegal mining in Oyo State, aims to protect the state's natural resources and promote responsible mining practices.
