The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has denied allegations of corruption, stating that its budget and spending are closely monitored by relevant authorities.
NPA's General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, said the allegations are false and baseless, and that the Authority operates transparently.
The NPA explained that its financial activities are supervised by federal bodies, making misapplication of funds implausible.
The Authority also clarified its positions on various issues, including dredging contracts, procurement processes, and revenue increases.
According to Onyemekara, the NPA followed due process in its operations.
The NPA is committed to modernizing Nigerian ports through infrastructure and equipment upgrades.
The Authority has secured approval for the Port Modernisation Programme and is nearing completion of the Port Community System, which will support the rollout of the Federal Government's National Single Window project.
