The North East Governors' Forum has adopted a multidimensional approach to tackle insecurity in the region, combining kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
The forum, in a nine-point communiqué read by Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas at the end of its 11th meeting in Damaturu, emphasized that addressing insecurity requires tackling youth unemployment, poor infrastructure, weak education, and poverty.
The governors called on the Federal Government to prioritize completing abandoned federal road projects, which have worsened insecurity and hampered economic recovery.
They also urged the Armed Forces and security agencies to reappraise their strategies in counter-insurgency operations.
The forum pledged to collaborate on investments in agriculture, renewable energy, and vocational training to create employment and reduce youth vulnerability to extremism, while declaring their support for the expansion of the Nigerian Law School Yola Campus and pledged to assist with facilities.
