The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on parents to protect and recognize children's rights as a crucial part of human rights.

NOA's State Director in Akwa Ibom, Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, made the call, while addressing parents and children at an event in Uyo, marking this year's 2025 Children’s Day celebration.

Highlighting the importance of parents acknowledging children's entitlement to specific protections and freedoms due to their vulnerability, Mkpoutom emphasized that every child deserves equal rights, regardless of their background or circumstances.

He stressed that parents have an obligation to provide conditions that promote their survival and development, including access to healthcare, education, and a decent standard of living.

The director stated that the call is part of efforts to create a just and equitable society where every child can thrive, grow, and participate fully.

On their part, parents at the event pledged to continue doing their best to care for their children and ensure their rights are recognized.
