NELFUND DENIES ALLEGED MISSING FUNDS FROM STUDENT LOAN SCHEME

1 min read

The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has denied allegations that some funds were missing from the student loan scheme.

Reacting to a recent report claiming that some schools were diverting funds, the Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, who assured that NELFUND has a "clean bill of health" and no money had been stolen, but they were rather used to bridge the financial gap for students who cannot afford education.

Acknowledging that there may be issues with human intervention at certain stages, although he maintained that there is no evidence of missing or stolen funds, Sawyerr urged the public to disregard claims of N71 billion missing from the scheme, stating that these claims are misconceived.
