Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a commercial vehicle loaded with 942 explosives along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway, arresting a 30-year-old suspect, Nura Muhammad.
A statement by NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said the explosives were concealed in a sack, and the suspect is believed to be transporting them from Nasarawa to Zamfara.
Babafemi revealed that in other operations, NDLEA operatives arrested five members of a syndicate in Kano with 50 blocks of skunk weighing 21.6kilograms, while in Edo State, a vehicle conveying assorted opioids was intercepted, including 314,020 pills of tramadol and 638 bottles of codeine syrup, adding that similar seizures were made in Anambra and Niger States.
The NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, has ordered the suspects and exhibits to be transferred to the appropriate security agencies for further action, noting that these operations demonstrate the agency's efforts to combat drug trafficking and smuggling in Nigeria.
