NATIONAL ASSEMBLY REMAINS BEDROCK OF NIGERIA'S DEMOCRACY - SARAKI.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has described the National Assembly as the "bedrock of democracy" and the arm of government that truly represents the will the people.
Saraki made this known in a statement marking 26 years since Nigeria's return to democratic governance, congratulating all Nigerians at home and abroad on this achievement, describing it as a result of the sacrifice and perseverance of all Nigerians.
The former Senate President also paid tribute to Nigeria's pro-democracy heroes, both known and unknown, who resisted military rule and paved the way for democratic freedom, while commending President Bola Tinubu for attending the commemorative event in the National Assembly chamber, noting that the choice of venue was symbolically significant.
Emphasizing that the National Assembly's role is crucial in representative government, highlighting that the legislative body is the bedrock of democracy, he noted that the gathering in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly to celebrate democracy sent a strong message about the need for legislative governance in Nigeria's democracy.
