The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has busted a fake drug factory in an uncompleted three-storey building in Azagba Ogwashi, Delta State.
The factory was found to be producing and relabeling expired drugs, including injectables.
NAFDAC's Director of South-East Zone, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, revealed that the prime suspect, Ekene Igwe, a major trader at Ogbo-Ogu market in Onitsha, Anambra State, is still at large.
Iluyomade confirmed that Igwe's wife, Blessing, has been arrested and arraigned in court for her involvement in the illicit business.
He also said that the agency seized large quantities of fake and expired drugs, including chloroquine phosphate, petazine injection, and gentamycin injection.
Vowing to intensify efforts to track down the prime suspect and ensure justice is served, NAFDAC warned Nigerians to be vigilant about the dangers of illicit drugs.
