
NAF LAUNCHES PROBE INTO DEATH OF DETAINED AIRMAN IN BAUCHI.
The Nigerian Air Force has launched an investigation into the death of Corporal A.S. Wulumba, who died while in custody at a guardroom in Bauchi Command.
Wulumba was detained for reporting late to duty, allegedly due to health complications.
The airman’s sister, Numdarai Wulumba, who alleged that her brother had explained his late arrival to his commander, but he was still confined, expressed outrage, citing military rules that detention for minor offenses like lateness should notexceed 24 hours.
Reacting to the situation, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, expressed his condolences for the airman’s death and confirmed that a board of inquiry had been set up, assuring that the investigation will be transparent and accountable.
Akinboyewa emphasized that NAF remains committed to personnel welfare and upholding high standards of accountability
