INEC HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF PARTNERSHIP WITH ELECTORAL STAKEHOLDERS TO DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENT.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, has emphasized the importance of the partnership between the commission and electoral stakeholders, saying it is critical to democratic development.
Dr. Agboke made this remark while hosting a sensitization visit by Kimpact Development Initiative and intern students from Osun State University, outlining the commission's structure and responsibilities, including conducting elections into federal and state offices.
He also clarified that INEC is solely responsible for conducting elections into offices such as President, Governors, and National Assembly, while State Independent Electoral Commissions handle local government elections.
Dr. Agboke encouraged the students to share their knowledge with peers and the wider public, highlighting the importance of civic awareness and electoral responsibility.
The partnership between INEC and the Initiative aims to promote good governance and electoral awareness among young Nigerians.
