The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has begun a new phase of shoreline clean-up, mangrove restoration, water supply, and livelihood support projects in Ogoniland to sustain momentum in the implementation of the Ogoni Clean-up, with a focus on completing ongoing projects.
The Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, disclosed this in a statement issued after the 1st Quarterly Meeting of Key Regulators and Asset Owners, organized in Port Harcourt.
Zabbey stated that HYPREP, which has also launched a Socio-Economic Study of Ogoniland and a human health bio-monitoring programme, is working on delivering several projects, including the Ogoni Power Project, Buan Cottage Hospital, and the Ogoni Specialist Hospital, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities.
The Coordinator emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement and commitment to the success of the Ogoni Clean-up, commending stakeholders for their contributions, while urging regulators and asset owners to remain committed to supporting HYPREP's efforts.
