Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has described workers as the backbone of the state's progress, and advised them to remain committed to excellence and unity, working towards a brighter future for the state.
The governor, who was represented at this year’s Workers' Day celebration by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, reiterated his administration's commitment to valuing, empowering, and rewarding workers.
He also highlighted initiatives like prompt salary payments, pension clearance, training programs, and infrastructure upgrades to support workers' welfare.
Earlier in a joint statement, the state NLC Chairman, Goodluck Ofobruku, and his TUC counterpart, Martins Bolum, called on workers to unite and reclaim their civic space despite economic hardship, noting that challenges have tested workers' resilience and resolve.
