Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has raised concerns about potential bandit infiltration into the North Central region, particularly from fleeing criminals in the Northeast and Northwest.
Governor Sule, who also chairs the North Central Governors’ Forum made the disclosure during an expanded State Security Council meeting held Wednesday at the Government House, Lafia, warning that proactive measures are necessary to prevent insecurity in the region.
Consequently, he announced a joint security operation among North Central governors, targeting hotspots like the Wamba-Bokkos axis and border areas between Nasarawa, Benue, and Kogi states, to curb insecurity and ensure peace in the region.
The Governor also stressed the need for thorough investigations and prosecution of suspects arrested in recent kidnapping incidents, while appreciating traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth groups for promoting peace and security across the state, as well as the peaceful return of displaced Bassa communities to their ancestral homes.
