The Federal Government has unveiled plans to review adoption regulations to prevent child abuse and strengthen the adoption process.
The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, announced this ahead of the Children's Day celebration, noting that the review aims to ensure transparent, efficient, and child-centered adoption procedures, adding that the government will establish a Child Protection Knowledge and Data Centre, finalize the Child Protection Services structure, and promote maternity and paternity leave policies.
She added that the government also plans to strengthen the Nigerian Children’s Parliament, regulate childcare facilities, and involve children in decision-making processes, to help amplify their voices and shape policies affecting their lives, ultimately protecting their rights and welfare.
