FG ENDORSES FAO INITIATIVE TO BOOST AGRO-FOOD PRODUCTIVITY.

The Federal Government has endorsed the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Digital Village Initiative (DVI) to boost agro-food productivity in Nigeria. 


The government disclosed that the initiative aims to harness digital technologies for increased productivity, sustainability, and resilience in farming practices.


The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, explained that the DVI would provide a scalable framework to support the digitization of farmers' registers, farmland data, and agricultural value chains. 


Kyari said the initiative, which would also promote climate-smart farming practices, reduce post-harvest losses, and enable efficient logistics management, aligns with Nigeria's national priorities, including the 10-Year Digital Agriculture Strategy and the National Digital Economy Policy.
