FG DECLARES THURSDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO CELEBRATE DEMOCRACY DAY.

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, June 12, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria's Democracy Day celebration. 


The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by his Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the government, congratulating Nigerians on 26 years of uninterrupted civil rule.


According to Dr. Tunji-Ojo, June 12 marks a significant milestone in Nigeria's democratic journey, symbolizing the nation's pursuit of truth, justice, peace, and a secure future. 


He highlighted the country's resilience, strength, and courage over the past 26 years, expressing renewed hope for the nation's future.


Reaffirming President the government’s commitment to democratic principles, the Minister emphasized the importance of freely-expressed will of the people in determining Nigeria's political, economic, social, and cultural systems.
