1 min read

The federal government has introduced a digital e-Visa regime and automated landing and exit card system, effective from May 1.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Akinsola Akinlabi, explained that the new system would enhance national security and streamline application processes, noting that the e-Visa application system is an end-to-end online platform with 13 categories under the Short Visit Visa class.

Akinlabi noted that the Visa on Arrival policy has been discontinued, and existing visas will remain valid until May 30, while the e-Visas are non-extendable, adding that applicants have been advised to apply for visas that match the duration and purpose of their visit, noting that a three-month transition period has been granted to ease compliance.
