FEC APPROVES MEDIPOOL TO LOWER COST OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS.

FEC approves Medipool to lower cost of pharmaceutical products – Pate.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a group purchasing organization, Medipool, as a supplier of essential healthcare products across Nigeria. 

This was confirmed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate.

The Minister explained that Medipool will utilize the government's monopsony power to negotiate lower prices and channel commodities to areas of need.

He added that it will cover procurement planning, distribution monitoring, supply chain management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. 

Pate stated that Medipool will also support local manufacturers and promote import substitution through public-private partnerships, to reduce healthcare costs, improve quality, and stimulate local manufacturing.
