DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE EFFORTS TO SUSTAIN INTERNAL INSECURITY.

1 min read

The Delta State Government has emphasized that internal security is a collective responsibility.

The Chairman of the Delta State's Waterways and Land Security Committee, Boro Opudu, stated this during a visit by students of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, who were on a study tour to understand the committee's operations.

Opudu revealed that the committee, which was set up by the state government, provides intelligence to security agencies to tackle insecurity challenges such as youth restiveness, kidnapping, and pipeline vandalism.

He emphasized that the committee's role is crucial in sending early warning signals to security agencies and assisting the government in protecting lives and properties.

The students, led by Brigadier General Al-hassan Grema, said the purpose of the visit was to harness grassroots intelligence for enhanced internal security, with the students visiting nine states in the country.

They expressed satisfaction with the committee's brief and also highlighted the importance of collaboration between security agencies and community leaders in enhancing internal security.
