DAVIDO, CUBANA CHIEF PRIEST CONDEMN VDM'S ARREST.

Nigerian celebrities, including Davido and Cubana Chief Priest, have condemned the arrest of social media influencer, VeryDarkMan (VDM), by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). 

The EFCC reportedly arrested VDM over alleged cybercrime offenses and secured a court order to remand him pending investigation.

The manner of VDM's arrest has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with the hashtag #FreeVDM trending, with celebrities and fans arguing that the arrest resembled an abduction, leaving many Nigerians worried and demanding his release.

The arrest was also condemned by the Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who called for increased adherence to legal processes and protection of fundamental rights, with many Nigerians are questioning the EFCC's actions, with some arguing that VDM's detention undermines freedom of speech.
