The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is seeking to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat smuggling of ammunition and drugs through waterways.

The Customs Area Controller, Patrick Ntadi, made this known when his team visited the Marine Police and NDLEA commands in Lagos on Wednesday, stressed the need for synergy and intelligence sharing among security agencies.

Ntadi explained that the purpose of the visit was to build a robust relationship and resolve issues of rivalry between lower-level officers.

The agencies agreed to work together to stop the smuggling of unwanted substances and enhance maritime security.

Also speaking, the AIG in charge of Maritime Police Command, Musa Garba, who said that no organization could succeed without synergy, frowned at the issue of rivalry, adding that he had been an advocate in ensuring that it was resolved.

In his remarks, the NDLEA Commander, Emmanuel Udoh, commended the Customs for their robust collaboration, citing three seizures of cannabis sativa received from customs since he assumed office.
