The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have praised a Nollywood series titled "The Boy Child's Life" for highlighting the challenges faced by Nigerian boy children.
The series, created by Joyce Nwakanma Productions and directed by Tola Balogun, explores issues such as deprivation, abuse, peer pressure, and societal expectations affecting boy children in Nigeria.
A Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF Nigeria Office, Dr. Godwin Odo, has described the series as a timely intervention that sheds light on the deprivations and gender stereotypes imposed on boy children.
Odo stressed the need for society to address these issues and protect the rights of boy children.
On his part, the Chairman of NDLEA, retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, also commended the film, emphasizing that the boy child needs urgent attention and holistic mentorship to make informed decisions.
Marwa, therefore, called for equal attention to be given to the boy child as is given to the girl child.
