The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested two internationally wanted fugitives.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, that one suspect, a ringleader of a human trafficking syndicate, was wanted by Belgian authorities for trafficking young Nigerian women to Italy and other European countries for sexual exploitation.
Adejobi said the suspect, who was arrested in Benin City, Edo State, would be arraigned at the Federal High Court.
He revealed that the second suspect, a key member of a Dubai-based armed robbery gang, was arrested in Nsukka, Enugu State, adding that he was wanted by authorities in the United Arab Emirates for serious crimes, including armed robbery, cultism, and drug trafficking.
Adejobi said the suspect had remotely coordinated criminal operations from Nigeria and he was linked to high-profile robberies in Dubai and Sharjah.
Adejobi noted that both arrests resulted from strategic intelligence sharing and operational collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and international law enforcement agencies, adding that the suspects will face trial in court, marking a significant achievement in the fight against transnational crime.
