OBI DEBUNKS CLAIMS OF DE-MARKETING NIGERIA

1 min read

Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded to critics, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who accused him of de-marketing Nigeria.

In his recent engagement at Johns Hopkins University in the United States of America, Obi described how Nigeria fell off economically within 25 years, leading to a massive increase in the poverty rate.

Insisting that he was only telling the truth about the country's situation, citing statistics from the World Bank and UNICEF, he compared Nigeria's poverty rate to that of China, Indonesia, and Vietnam combined.

According to him, Nigeria has more poor people than the three countries combined, hence the need to face reality and address the country's issues.

Obi further wondered whether sharing facts about Nigeria's challenges constitutes de-marketing, as he asked if the World Bank and UNICEF were also de-marketing Nigeria by releasing similar statistics.
