The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its transparency and accountability in addressing the issues raised after the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mass failure.
Issa-Onilu, in a statement signed on Thursday by the NOA’s Deputy Director of Media & Communications, Paul Odenyi, described JAMB's open acknowledgement of its lapses as a rare and commendable act of leadership.
The NOA boss commended JAMB's Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for demonstrating integrity and courage, but urged the Board to go further by initiating remedial measures that directly address the concerns of affected candidates, parents, and stakeholders.
He also stressed the need for redemption and restitution, including appropriate compensation to mitigate the stress and anxiety suffered by candidates.
Reaffirming NOA's commitment to promoting a governance culture anchored in trust, integrity, and mutual respect between citizens and institutions, Issa-Onilu highlighted the importance of upholding core values of integrity, accountability, and transparency, noting that the Agency's campaign to entrench the ideals of the National Values Charter will remain a central focus.
