The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has rescued 13 Nigerian victims of human trafficking from Ghana and Mali.

The victims, including 12 girls and a 5-year-old boy, were reportedly lured with false promises of employment but were forced into prostitution.

The Chairman of the Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, revealed that the rescued victims, who are from various states, including Cross River, Benue, Imo, Oyo, and Adamawa, shared harrowing accounts of sexual abuse, physical assault, and emotional trauma.

The NiDCOM boss further said that the victims have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for profiling, counseling, and further support.

Assuring the victims of rehabilitation, reintegration, and psychological support, she called for stringent legal action against traffickers.
