The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, announced plans to establish a reconciliation committee to address political differences in Rivers State.
Abbas made this known while addressing members of the house at resumption of plenary from the Easter/Sallah break on Tuesday, saying that the committee will comprise respected national figures who will facilitate dialogue, promote peace, and support the restoration of democratic order.
The speaker also condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Borno, Plateau, Benue, and Kwara States, extending condolences to bereaved families and urging security agencies to bring perpetrators to justice and prevent further violence.
Highlighting environmental forecasts indicating severe flooding in over 30 states during the upcoming rainy season, Abbas also assured that the House will prioritize critical bills impacting Nigerians' stability, prosperity, and well-being, including the Electoral Reform Bill, constitutional amendment, and legislation on unemployment, poverty alleviation, fiscal reform, healthcare, education, and security.
He also stressed the need for decisive action to expedite the consideration and passage of these bills.
