1 min read

Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency Nasir Idris has abolished casual labor in the state's public service, thereby converting temporary and casual workers into permanent and pensionable staff.

Governor Idris, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, marking this year’s worker’s day, said the move aims to improve workers' welfare and job security.

The governor said his administration has implemented various pro-worker initiatives, including prompt payment of salaries, regular disbursement of leave grants, and settlement of pension and gratuity arrears, noting that Kebbi is now the only state in Nigeria up to date in these payments.

Governor Idris has also approved a N75,000 minimum wage, surpassing the federal government's benchmark of N70,000, emphasizing that workers' welfare is of paramount importance to the government and he will never let them down.
