The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Kebbi State Government are set to provide assistance to hundreds of families displaced by last year's devastating floods in Kamfani Village, Argungu Local Government Area.
The aid package includes essential building materials like cement, roofing sheets, zinc, and nails to support the reconstruction and resettlement process after a flood disaster left scores of residents without shelter or access to basic amenities, with many households living in precarious conditions since the disaster occurred.
NEMA explained that the support aims to provide immediate relief and promote long-term stability within the affected community.
According to the agency’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, who was represented byAliyu Shehu Kashin, said that the assistance is crucial for the community's recovery.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government has also established a committee to oversee land allocation at a new site designated for the displaced residents.
The committee, which would soon begin discharging its duties, will ensure each displaced household is allocated a plot in the new settlement.
